“Ju hua 菊花, chrysanthemum flower (Chrysanthemum morifolium). Sweet, bitter, slightly cold. Lung, liver. Disperses wind-heat, calms the liver, brightens the eyes, clears heat. Drunk as a flower tea for more than 3,000 years. Pairs with sang ye in Sang Ju Yin, and with goji in the cup. Caution: in large amounts not with tacrolimus or ciclosporin, and rare allergy in people sensitive to the daisy family.”
“Chrysanthemum tea (菊花茶, jú huā chá), drunk for over 3,000 years as a dietary flower tea, the gentle summer cup. A few dried flowers in hot water, steeped a few minutes, the flowers opening in the glass. One line: large amounts do not go with tacrolimus, ciclosporin or other drugs broken down by the same liver enzyme, and people allergic to ragweed or daisies should take care.”
